Indigenous-Led Development
Led by the Missanabie Cree First Nation, this is the first Indigenous-led rental housing developed for the City of Toronto under the Housing Now program.
The site is home to the former War Amps building, which is a designated heritage site.

Our Role
Missanabie Cree First Nation engaged EllisDon Community Builders ("EDCB") for development management services. EDCB will provide overall development leadership on the project, working closely with the First Nation and the City.
Our Progress
So far, EDCB has:
- Managed municipal entitlements and approvals
- Supported community engagement
- Coordinated design development
- Secured project financing
- Procured the full consultant team
- Schedule management and budget tracking
- Worked with adjacent landowners to formalize site access and coordination
- Overseen demolition and the start of foundation works
EllisDon Community Builders' SVP, Nick Gefucia, presented a ceremonial shovel to Chief Gaulthier of the Missanabie Cree during a groundbreaking event in August 2026.
